Created in 2011 in collaboration with US nonprofit OneVoice, SiriusXM and Shepherds Schools, LaLaLove is a kid-powered movement that proves children can change the world by singing their little hearts out. Led and inspired by the songs of children in a tiny Tanzanian village, kids everywhere came together to build a secondary school in Arusha by lifting their own powerful voices.
In 2011, hundreds of children from 30 groups and schools participated in LaLaLove. Each submitted their own music video, and invited their friends, families and communities who were inspired by their songs to contribute. Ultimately, in its first year, LaLaLove raised nearly $30,000 which served as the seed money to build Shepherds Secondary school, where now the walls silently echo the voices of hundreds of children across the globe singing “I love you.”
In 2012, the movement continued, raising over $30,000 to fund heart surgeries for children in Kenya through Take Heart.
Impact: So far, LaLaLove has raised over $60,000 USD by encouraging children to lift their own powerful voices. This has funded construction of three classrooms at Shepherds Secondary School, and life-saving surgeries for at least 10 children suffering from heart defects in Kenya.
